An Old House Is Like A Beauty Queen That's Just Outside Of Her Prime

remember standing on a cold, hard, wooden floor of memories. The house was about fifty years old, and reminded me of a ravishing beauty queen well beyond her prime. Only, youth could be restored to this magnificent model. I saw the twinkle in her eye. The weight of the sledge hammer was pure power in my hands. I watched and felt the powder explode through the air with every swing.

Sheet rock covered my bare arms and turned my black hair as gray as this sweet old home felt. The process to remodel this home would not be a single project, but it would begin with this wall. The neglect stirred emotions of sympathy in me. It would be a second chance for the house, and a timid first step for me and my new husband. I learned more than I knew there was to know about sheet rock.

There were unexpected studs and electric wires hiding mischievously in surprising places. Throughout the process, I learned that my body was also hiding muscles in strange spots. The pain was excruciating. I wondered quietly if it was also painful for the house. My thought giggled when I added, “an amputation WOULD hurt more than sore muscles.” It sounds simple to use a sledge hammer to knock down a single, unwanted wall. It’s not!

I learned why safety equipment is not just a feeble suggestion. I learned why it’s important to have all of your supplies for a job before you begin! I learned what the bones of a house look like. I learned what hard physical labor felt like for the first time in my young life. I also felt myself falling more deeply in love with every bead of sweat that plopped on that scratched up floor. I swelled with pride when we were finally finished. Then I turned circles on the spot where that wall used to be, imagining our new huge master bedroom adorned in beautiful detail. I imagined our new memories unfolding and mingling and dancing and making friends.

Remodeling is very interesting and allows me to be innovative

Home improvement is interesting because the whole procedure will be done on our own home which was already build by us or may be we would have brought a ready made home. but remodeling the same is such a interesting things that we have lots of experience and lots of things to tell. this whole procedure is very much innovative because we have to rebuild our own home once again. In many cases people would have build their home long ago and day by day technology & design changes. so its necessary for everyone reading this blog to upgrade their home. and many of them would have brought ready made home. which they wanted to be in their own design. Special thanks to Anthony from Countertop Investigator to helping us so much with the design.

My remodeling took place 1 year ago. this is my family home. which was build 45 years ago by my father. two store independent home. ground floor 3 bed room and kitchen hall and 2 bath room. 1st floor 4 bed room and a big living room. I planned to just do some repairing work but than later got a renovation loan from a bank. so decided to invest all the fund in remodeling.

My old house was with old design and structure. so this time I called a architecture and stated planning and designing the existing home. De-constructing and rebuilding a new home is a long process and also costly. we planned to remodel it with whatever we have a make it stronger and modern. So 1st we planned to strengthen the foundation and the roof. and later we altered all the rooms and walls to give it a different look. from outside we just repainted it and repaired all cracks. from outside it was on 20 % changed but from inside it was 90% remodeled All rooms are re-structured and with modern design and modern fitting . bathroom we remodeled and re-fixed Even 1st floor was also re-structured and also we added 3 side balcony. which was not there earlier The whole activity took 3 months to complete. initially we did ground floor. so we moved everything to 1 st floor and later we did 1 st floor.

The kitchen was very much the undertaking. We added stainless steel https://countertopinvestigator.com/stainless-countertops/ countertops in place of the old and very damaged granite ones. We also took out the old cabinets and built some ourselves. My uncle was a carpenter and that was his gift to us. Design ideas here: https://www.houzz.com/stainless-steel-kitchen

The whole 3 month was very much existing. interesting & innovative. whole family members were giving all kind of ideas. and also relatives and friends also gave their valuable ideas. and overall the whole remodeling process was completed successfully. because of proper planning and reusing most of the things also reduced the overall cost. whatever we estimated . the outcome cost was 20% less. because of which we were very happy. and after the successful completion we have grand party for all friends and family and relative initially i was very much nervous and confused. but gradually when everything started and than my confidence level boosted. without my family & friends support is was impossible to complete the whole remodeling. i am happy and glad that everything went as per plan and we all are proud of our family home.

I decided to remodel the family bathroom

12/20/2013 13:40

I decided to remodel the family bathroom. It didn't look terrible by any means, but the aqua blue paint on the walls definitely looked outdated, not to mention the old brass knobs on the sink.

First, we had to venture through the most difficult part. Agreeing on what to do. Pink paint? White handles? New bath towels? We spent many hours wandering around the towering halls of home-depot, and argued over the different tile samples like our life depended on it. Little by little we started to piece together our masterpiece. That tile? Yes THAT one. We loved it. Adored it. It was perfect. That is until we tried to install it.

Every small installation seemed to require a new feat of strength and determination to mount. The paint somehow mysteriously splattered on the ceiling, the new knobs for the sink wouldn't fit no matter what size we returned and bought, and just the dust from the walls seemed to fight against our process by attempting to strangle us by their tiny particles infiltrating our lungs. We were lost, and hopeless. Until. We finished. Yes we finished. It was lovely and glorious, and everything we hoped and imagined. At least that's what we told ourselves so as to avoid this treacherous adventure again any time soon. In all honesty, it did look leaps and bounds better, and we were pleased. However, this was NOT a war we wished to wage upon any room of the house again any time in the near future.
